We highly recommend using the 90 mil bucket made from FDA compliant High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE) for its sturdiness. To adapt the bucket to a threaded spin-on/spin-off lid, you can use a Gamma Seal lid. This lid can be easily installed by the customer, or it can come pre-installed on the bucket for packaging efficiency. For installation, a rubber mallet (not included) can be used to secure the threaded ring to the bucket. The ring forms a tight seal with the rim of the bucket using an O-ring gasket. The threaded lid portion can then be easily screwed on and off, providing a secure seal with another O-ring gasket.

To ensure the longevity of the O-ring gasket, it is important to keep the food grade silicone lubricant intact. Excessive cleaning may remove this lubricant, causing the O-ring to grab and stretch, and potentially lose its retention to the lid. It should be noted that plastic containers may not always be perfectly true, but leaving the lid snug for a while in a warmer room temperature environment can help the different components adjust to each other, resulting in better performance.

For long term food and liquid storage, we recommend using a conventional snap-on lid with a gasket. Although the Gamma Seal lid offers convenience and easy access, it may not be the optimal choice for these purposes. However, if you require frequent and convenient access to the contents of the bucket, the Gamma Seal lid is highly recommended. It is user installable, but can also be pre-installed for packaging efficiency.
